Ansa Borego
(excerpt)
2005

In Ansa Borego I waltz together with another man down a steep and untamed mountain slope. We both wear formal jackets as we waltz on loose rocks dangerously close to a seep precipice. Despite the physical difficulties and an occasional fall we keep moving. Eventually we make it down the mountain.

The place Ansa Borego is a misprint and refers to Anza Borrega, a slice of southern California desert that borders Mexico. I kept the misspelling in place because, to me, it transforms the place into a more personalized location. The video was sponsored by the Art Department of the University of California, San Diego.
